Dell OptiPlex 7070 Ultra Zero Footprint Desktop PC

Dell has caught our eye with its OptiPlex 7070 Ultra and its claim of being a “zero footprint desktop PC”. Now, how the heck does *that* work?

The rather intriguing claim for Dell’s new OptiPlex 7070 Ultra desktop is further enhanced by the fact it is also a modular design.

The way the OptiPlex 7070 Ultra manages all this wonderment is that it is housed within a monitor stand. Dell is billing this hybrid all-in-one as the “world’s most flexible commercial desktop”.

Yes, we have all seen all-in-one systems before but what is so neat about this clutter-free solution is that both the display and the PC can be upgraded independently of one another.

Additionally, as many as three displays are supported by the system which can all be swapped out when needed. Handy should one of the monitors bite the dust, it doesn’t mean a full system change or sending the whole lot to be repaired.

Furthermore, the modular PC portion can also be changed out independently, whether for maintenance or upgrades.

OptiPlex 7070 Ultra Spec

Naturally, Dell offers a whole raft of options with processor ranging from an Intel Core i3-8145U at the low-end to maxing out with a Core i7-8665U at the high-end. Up to 64GB of DDR4-2400 memory is supported (2x32GB), while 2.5-inch HDD (up to 2TB) and M.2 PCIe NVMe SSDs (up to 1TB) are supported.

Despite the compact size of the PC unit, there’s still room for three USB 3.1 (Type-A) and two USB 3.1 (Type-C) ports for external connections along with a single GbE network adapter.

Given the space-saving and compact nature of the OptiPlex 7070 Ultra, the only graphics you’re offered are the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620.
